Terms of use
The terms for using DockLabel. The part that matters most: check every label against GS1 and your trading partner's routing guide before you ship, because this free tool comes with no warranty.
Effective October 11, 2026.
The agreement
DockLabel is operated by Sales Xceleration Strategies LLC, a Colorado limited liability company ("DockLabel", "we", "us"). By using this website, including the label generator, the check digit calculator and the guides, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
What the service is
The site is a free tool that produces ZPL for a generic 4 x 6 inch GS1 logistic label carrying an SSCC as a GS1-128 barcode, together with guides and reference pages about those labels. It runs in your browser. It does not print, it does not send labels to a printer, and it does not keep a record of the serial numbers you have used.
Check every label before you ship
You are responsible for the labels you print and the shipments you put them on. Before relying on any output from this site:
- Verify the label against the current GS1 General Specifications. The site follows them as we read them, and our reading may be wrong or out of date.
- Verify the label against your trading partner's current routing guide or vendor compliance manual. Retailers and carriers set their own layouts, required fields, barcode sizes and placement, and this site does not know any retailer's private requirements.
- Print a sample on the printer you will use and scan it. The ZPL has not yet been verified on physical printer hardware. It has been checked against a ZPL rendering service only, and printers, firmware, media and print speed all change the result.
- Use your own GS1 Company Prefix, licensed to you by GS1, and keep your own record of the serial numbers you have used so that no SSCC is repeated.
No warranty
The site, the ZPL it produces and the guides are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.
In particular we give no warranty that a label produced here will scan, will comply with GS1 standards, will be accepted by any retailer, carrier or distribution center, or will avoid a chargeback, a fine, a refused delivery or a delay. The guides are general information, not compliance or legal advice.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, DockLabel is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any chargeback, compliance fee, refused or delayed shipment, relabeling cost, lost revenue or lost data, arising from your use of the site or of any label produced with it, even if we were told such a loss was possible. The site is free, and to the extent liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us to use it.
Acceptable use
Do not use the site to produce labels with a GS1 Company Prefix that is not yours, to misrepresent a shipment, or for anything unlawful. Do not try to disrupt the site, probe it for weaknesses, or send automated requests to the waitlist form.
Content and trademarks
The ZPL you generate is yours to use. The text of the guides and the design of the site belong to us. GS1, GS1-128 and SSCC are terms and trademarks of GS1, and ZPL and Zebra are trademarks of Zebra Technologies. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by GS1, Zebra Technologies or any retailer named in the guides.
Waitlist and privacy
If you join the waitlist we will email you when the features it names launch. The privacy policy explains what we collect and the cookie policy explains what is stored in your browser.
Changes
We may change the site or these terms. When the terms change we will update this page and its effective date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms. We may withdraw the site, or any part of it, at any time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict of law principles. You and DockLabel agree to bring any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the site exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Colorado, and each of us consents to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
